Happy anniversary

It’s been exactly 50 years since our nation had that little meltdown at Watts, and it’s interesting to pause and take a look at how much we, as a society, have grown since then.  Looking back over that time, I see that we’re pretty much exactly where we were then.  What?  You don’t believe me?  Well, sweetheart,  Watts isn’t the only mark on the calendar.  I notice that it’s also been a year since Ferguson, and that particular “discussion” is still going on.

In March, the U.S. Department of Justice found systemic racial discrimination in both law enforcement and the judicial system in Ferguson. Some officers sent racist emails and disproportionately targeted black people for traffic stops, it said. A report released in July found the St. Louis County Family Court — which serves Ferguson — also violated the constitutional right to due process for black youth.

Still think we’ve come a long way?

Be seeing you.

1965 was quite the era … kind of a start of about 6-8 very difficult years. https://afrankangle.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/on-50-years-ago-1965/ … Yep – we have come a long way – but we still have a long way to go.
