HitchBOT

David Smith and Frauke Zeller, both profs from different universities, put their heads together and came up with “HitchBOT”.  The point of the smiling robot was to see how it interacted with people, so they took it out and left it beside the road with a sign asking for a lift.  Using “the kindness of strangers”, HitchBOT hitchhiked across the expanse of Canada, Germany, and Norway, tweeting all the way, without a problem.  Then it came to the United States.  Shortly after starting across the country, vandals destroyed the free-spirited robot.  Pieces of the ‘bot were found strewn down a road outside Philadelphia.

Because that’s what we do to innocence in the Village.
