Net Neutrality solved

I have to admit that I never saw this coming.  After all the back-and-forth between the Conservatives and the Not-quite-so-Conservatives (there being no actual Liberals left in the Village) about just exactly how much control the One Per Cent would have over the content of the Internet, out of the blue, the FCC steps in and settles the issue.

By declaring the Internet to be a Public Utility, it becomes Net Neutral by definition.  Oh, sure, eventually that’ll become a back-door entry for when Big Government decides they want to meddle, but for now, at least, the point is moot.  It’ll probably be years before some bureaucrat quietly slips in the first of a long line of “protective” rules for this public utility.  And then, of course, there’ll be the inevitable intrusion of the Public Utility Department that each state currently has to cover all those other public utilities.  Man oh man, when all those Red States discover that they can back-door the Internet through their locally owned and operated PUDs — well, the hangover after the party will be something to witness.

But for now, today, the issue is settled.  And we kinda sorta won.

FCC-Net-Neutral

Be seeing you.
