The constitutional Amish

The Amish, sometimes called the Pennsylvania Dutch, are a group of fanatics traditionalist Christians that only want to be left alone to live a simple, God-fearing life.  Anything newer than the 1800’s is generally considered verboten, so hard work and few amenities are the backbone of daily life.  Except for emergencies, the use of automobiles, telephones, electricity and zippers are forbidden.  After all, if it ain’t in their bible, it must be evil. (I wonder what constitutes emergency zipper use?)

Any of this sound familiar?  Substitute the words Conservative Republican for Amish and Constitution for bible and try again.  How about now?  I thought it might.
