Two Villagers embarrass themselves — well, it’s a start!

It’s not often that the Village pulls a boner — no, wait, there’s got to be a better way to say that.  Oh, what the heck, perhaps the visual imagery will help get my point across.  In an effort to spread the word about Open Carry laws, Virginia Gun Activist Jason Spitze held a parade for the millions of people that sincerely believe everyone should walk around all the time totin’ loaded weapons.  Only, no one showed up.

I’m not sure if that means nobody else thinks like that, or perhaps they just had better things to do on the fourth of July.  Of course, Spitze held the parade anyway, just him and his his boyfriend, with the city police and a couple of reporters watching from the sidelines.  A local merchant summed it up best: “People need to be aware that they can carry a weapon, but at the same time you’ve got to be mindful of your environment and who else you are affecting,” said Carytown merchant Christopher Turner. “It’s not just about you.”

Yeah, finally somebody said it.  It’s not just about you.

Be seeing you.
